Climate change has been viewed as an issue dividing Democrats and Republicans, but conservative voices are a growing part of the climate conservation.

Now a nonpartisan group committed to promoting climate solutions, Citizens’ Climate Lobby, is hosting an event for people across the political spectrum aiming to make an impact on conservative audiences through writing opinion pieces.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby is hosting a webinar this month entitled, “Crafting Impactful Conservative Op-Eds and Letters to the Editor.” The online panel discussion will be held Thursday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. ET. Click here to register for the event, which is open to all.

The panelists for the event are:

  • Nathan Crabbe, editor of The Invading Sea
  • Mary Anna Mancuso, spokesperson for republicEn.org
  • Karly Matthews, vice president of communications for American Conservation Coalition Action

Charlotte Ward, local and state media coordinator for Citizens’ Climate Lobby, will be moderating the panel.

The Invading Sea seeks to publish a wide variety of perspectives on climate and energy issues, which are shared with newspapers across Florida to consider publishing as well. The nonpartisan journalism website has also hosted two webinars of its own about climate and energy issues that resonate with conservative audiences: an online panel discussion on “Talking with Conservatives About Climate Change” produced for Florida Climate Week 2023 in October and an online panel discussion on “Messaging to Republicans on Clean Energy and Climate Issues” in November.

Those interested in writing an opinion piece for The Invading Sea, its newspaper partners or other online and print publications are encouraged to register for the Citizens’ Climate Lobby webinar to learn more. Crabbe can be reached by email at ncrabbe@fau.edu for information on submitting pieces to The Invading Sea.
