By Colin Polsky
The Invading Sea celebrated its two-year anniversary in March. How are we doing? Two years ago, I announced the transfer of the site to Florida Atlantic University. In that piece, I outlined six traits of the pieces we were committing to publish:

- Focus on Florida.
- Aggressively non-partisan and civil.
- Unabashedly curiosity-driven.
- Easily understandable and brief.
- Fact-based.
- At times light-hearted.
I write here to expand on the second trait: non-partisan and civil. A few weeks ago, I learned of an area group that excoriated us for being too right-wing. That same day I heard through a different grapevine that another group was unhappy with our allegedly lefty/alarmist bias.
My conclusion from these comments? We are doing something right. Being non-partisan means we will entertain all perspectives, and we will consider publishing those that meet the other criteria. But being non-partisan does not mean refusing to publish pieces with strong opinions.
