Celebrate Earth Day: a listing of events across Florida

A variety of Earth Day events are being held across the Sunshine State this Saturday, April 22

Since 1970, Earth Day has been held annually on April 22. The event was the idea of U.S. Sen. Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, intended as a way of bringing more attention to environmental issues. It has since expanded across the globe and is sometimes celebrated part of of Earth Week with seven days of events.

A variety of Earth Day events are being held across Florida this Saturday. A sampling of some of these events is listed below, along with links to more information.

Boynton Beach  

  • Earth Day Celebration, Centennial Park, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Coral Springs 

  • EarthFest, Sawgrass Nature Center, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  

Clermont 

  • Earth Day and Lake Clean-Up Festival, Lake Hiawatha Preserve, 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Gainesville 

  • Treefest 2023, Swamp Head Brewery, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. 

Miramar 

  • Water Conservation & Earth Day, Miramar Regional Park, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

Maitland 

  • Earth Day 2023, Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Miami 

  • “Walk the Talk” 5K Earth Day 2023 Event, MAST Academy, registration begins at 7 a.m. 

Miami Beach 

  • Earth Day Park & Beach Clean Up, Collins Park, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

Naples 

  • Earth Day Festival, Conservancy of Southwest Florida, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Ocala 

  • Earthfest, Tuscawilla Park, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Orlando 

  • Central Florida Earth Day, Lake Eola Park, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Osprey 

  • 34th Annual Earth Day & 14th Annual Florida Scrub-Jay Fest, Oscar Scherer State Park, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Pensacola 

  • Earth Day Pensacola, Seville Square, P10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Plantation 

  • Earth Day Celebration, Volunteer Park, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Port Orange 

  • Earth Day Celebration, Riverwalk Park, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Port St. Lucie 

  • St. Lucie Earth Day Festival, Oxbow Eco-Center, 10 am to 5 p.m. 

Sebastian 

  • Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration, Riverview Park, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

St. Cloud 

  • Earth Day Celebration, Veterans Memorial Library, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Tallahassee 

  • Earth Day Festival, The Hole, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
